Greg knows that Tube services are vital for all residents. That is why he is launching a new initiative as part of his ongoing campaign to improve accessibility at Parsons Green and Putney Bridge Tube Stations:

As part of the redevelopment of Fulham Football Club, over £150,000 was earmarked for Putney Bridge Tube Station. Greg is proposing that these funds are used for a study and seed capital to install lifts at the station.

Over many years, Greg has successfully campaigned to improve our local Tube services, such as increasing District Line capacity and frequency via more rush-hour trains, new walkthrough S category Tube trains, better interchange with the Overground and most recently, improved signalling technology. (Check out Greg's video!)

Residents will remember Greg’s Sloane Square Tube Station success, where Transport for London (TfL) re-opened Sloane Square Tube Station escalator only 48 hours after he created a petition calling on TfL and Mayor Khan to repair the escalator as soon as possible.

One of Greg’s campaigns has been to improve pedestrian accessibility at Parsons Green and Putney Bridge Tube Stations. He has continuously been raising this directly with TfL and Mayor Khan, in addition to running petitions and responding TfL’s Step-Free Access Consultation.

Step-free access to the District Line at Parsons Green and Putney Bridge Tube Stations, or the lack thereof, has been a concern for many constituents, especially the elderly, those with restricted mobility, families with young children and those with heavy luggage.

As these stations are above ground level, Greg believes that installing lifts would be significantly less costly, compared with underground stations where lifts need to be excavated.

Greg is urging the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (LBHF) to work with TfL and Mayor Khan to use this funding so that we can get lifts which would benefit our whole community.

Greg will never stop calling on Labour-run LBHF, TfL and Labour Mayor Khan, to ensure that Chelsea & Fulham residents have access to the public transport they need.

Commenting, Greg Hands said:

“Like many fellow Chelsea & Fulham residents, I use the Tube all the time and I am always looking for ways to improve the service.

The lengthy flights of stairs at Putney Bridge and Parsons Green Tube Stations can be very difficult for some residents, and I have long been calling on TfL and Mayor Khan to improve accessibility.

This funding, which is earmarked for Putney Bridge Tube Station, could really kickstart the work to get lifts installed and I urgently urge LBHF, TfL and Mayor Khan to use these funds for a study and seed capital to install lifts at the station.”
