Dear Resident,
I hope you are well.It was an honour and a privilege last Sunday to be asked by the Prime Minister to join the Government as Minister for Trade Policy at the Department of International Trade.
It is a fantastic role that I have been fortunate to have held twice before, under both Rt Hon Theresa May MP and the Rt Hon Boris Johnson MP. The Minister of State for Trade Policy supports the Secretary of State for International Trade to secure free trade agreements (FTAs), trade remedies, market access strategy and union policy. The Minister also sits as an advisor on the Board of Trade.
It is great to be working with Secretary of State, the Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP, her ministerial team as well as our brilliantly dedicated trade officials who help make everything happen.
It has been an enjoyable first few days back at the department. I have held meetings with officials both from the United States and Chile on furthering our trading relationship with both countries and attended the reopening of Battersea Power Station, which you can find out more about below!
Have a good weekend!
Yours,
Greg Hands
