News Bulletin from Greg Hands MP Friday 17 March 2023 | #665
Dear Resident,
I hope you are well!
It was a pleasure to meet with the King’s Road Partnership and to visit businesses along the King’s Road. The iconic King’s Road has a fantastic range of shops, restaurants, pubs and galleries that attract visitors not only locally but also from across the country and indeed the world.
It is important for London’s retail and restaurant sectors to remain internationally competitive and the King’s Road Partnership, with support from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, have worked intensively to promote this vibrant business environment.
The King’s Road is home to many flagship retailers and unique small businesses. It was great to speak local business owners to hear about the opportunities and challenges they are facing.
At the largest retailer of the King’s Road, Peter Jones, I heard their views on tax-free shopping, store security and the general market. I also paid visits to Jigsaw’s flagship store near Sloane Square - a great British brand. It is great to have it in Chelsea and I met up with the friendly and helpful Street Team.
At Love My Human, Jenny does an amazing job running this dog-friendly cafe and canine facilities. It was lovely to get to know dogs Hilde and Leon, too! Last but not least - finally Waitrose is back on the King's Road after two long years of refurbishment!
In Parliament this week, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced the 2023 Budget which delivers a plan for growing the economy, halving inflation and supporting businesses. The Government has extended support on energy bills which will be crucial in helping households and small business owners.
Best wishes,
Greg Hands
