News Bulletin 615: Greg continues to fight for buses in Chelsea and Fulham

Dear Resident,

I hope you are well.

This week, my fight against Sadiq Khan and TfL’s decision to reduce bus services running through Chelsea and Fulham continued. From 29 January, Number 170 bus users will see their service reduced from every 10 minutes to every 7 minutes. As a result, this route will become significantly slower and busier, as fewer buses run throughout the day and more and more passengers squeeze in.

Like the Number 14 bus, the Number 170, which goes from Roehampton to Victoria Station, is used regularly by local residents, stopping at Beaufort Street and Royal Hospital Chelsea, making it an essential transport service for vulnerable people travelling on this route on a regular basis.

Moreover, reductions to the Number 14 and Number 170 buses will disproportionally affect those reliant on buses to travel, given that many bus journeys in Chelsea and Fulham are made by disabled people, families with young children and older people who may find using the tube system difficult, especially due to the lack of step-free access at tube stations such as Putney Bridge, Parsons Green and Sloane Square.

Therefore, I encourage all residents to sign my two petitions, calling on TfL to reverse the cuts to the Number 170 and Number 14 buses. To do so, please click here.

Kind regards,
Greg Hands
