Greg Hands MP receiving his coronavirus vaccine

The progress the UK continues to make with the vaccine rollout is exceptional. The UK now has the largest share of people given at least one dose of the vaccine in Europe and remains one of most vaccinated countries in the world.

In total, over 60 million vaccine doses have been given to adults across the UK, with over 38 million people having received their first vaccine and over 20 million people having received two doses. Last week the Member of Parliament for Chelsea and Fulham, Greg Hands MP, joined this group by receiving his second dose of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine at the Science Museum.

Vaccines are being administered at over 1500 sites across the country, ranging from churches and football stadiums to pharmacies and town halls.

Locally, both the Science Museum in Kensington and the Novotel Conference Centre in Hammersmith have played critical roles in rolling out the vaccine for Chelsea and Fulham residents, providing large amounts of vaccines to local residents each day.

In Fulham,  the Parsons Green Walk In Centre has also contributed to the vaccination programme, whilst the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and the Royal Brompton Hospital in Chelsea, have been essential in providing the vaccine to people as efficiently and quickly as possible.

Commenting on his own experience, Greg Hands MP said:

“Having now received both doses of the vaccine at the Science Museum, I have been thoroughly impressed with how efficient, quick and easy the process was both times.

I would like to thank all the vaccination staff at the Science Museum, staff at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, across Chelsea and Fulham and the UK for their consistent hard work and unwavering commitment. Whether it be GPs, pharmacists, nurses or volunteers, I would like to pay tribute to all those who have sacrificed their time and energy to fight this virus.”

Those aged 30 or over, or turn 30 before 1 July 2021, can now book a coronavirus vaccination online. Please visit the NHS website or click here.
