On Friday 25 November, Greg went on a walk-about across Chelsea & Fulham with Chief Superintendent Owain Richards, who is our BCU Commander.
First stop was Fulham. Greg and Owain started at Putney Bridge station and made their way to Bishops Park. On the route, Greg and Owain discussed plenty of issues, including the awful robbery attack in Bishops Park in the summer and Owain updated Greg that the investigation is ongoing. They also discussed burglary, robberies with the threat of a machete, and how events in central London are managed.
The next stop was Chelsea, where Greg and Owain were joined by local GLA Member Tony Devenish, the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Councillor Walaa Idris, and local residents.
The group had a very useful discussion while on the beat around Chelsea, starting at Sloane Square and walking to Brompton and Hans Town. They discussed a multitude of issues including burglary, high value watch theft, car theft (of and from) and the power of CCTV.
Greg took the chance to thank both Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea Police officers for their public service.
Greg was particularly pleased to hear the commitment from the Metropolitan Police to always send an officer to every reported burglary incident, the tougher action against direct action disrupters and the strong emphasis on local community policing.
