It was fantastic to visit the newly renovated Chelsea Theatre last Friday. After three years of closure the iconic 1960s building at World’s End Estate on the King's Road has relaunched as a community arts hub.
CEO Paul Adlam kindly took local Councillors Sonia Zvedeniuk, Gerard Hargreaves and me on a tour of their suite of studios, exhibition spaces, café and bar areas and the theatre/cinema itself. These are great community spaces, all wonderfully redesigned and refitted.
The team, most of them are local, talk passionately about the opportunity this building now offers to the community. In Paul’s word’s ‘Chelsea Theatre gives local people and the whole borough, not only a chance to enjoy a wide array of cultural programming but an opportunity to discover and develop their own creativity and with our partners to build pathways into the creative industries.'
The team's ambitious goal is to spark a creative renaissance at the World's End and beyond.
The charity needs your support to ensure they have everything required to continue their sterling work. There are three ways you can help:
1. Become a trustee: The Board is keen to recruit trustees and supporters who can focus their fundraising efforts. If you are interested in getting involved, please email [email protected] to arrange a tour and chat.
2. Visit and enjoy: With a very wide array of programming there is something for everyone plus a café with great homemade cakes and lunches and a terrace bar facing the sunset. All these facilities are also available for private hire!
