Dear Resident
I hope you have had a wonderful Easter and long weekend.
Together with Nickie Aiken MP, I have launched a bid to have the number 11 bus and route protected with UNESCO World Heritage status.
The historic number 11 bus service is under threat - Mayor Khan is pressing on with his plan to chop this vital service and route.
From 29 April, Transport for London are introducing major changes, the number 11 is being re-routed and will no longer follow the historic route passing along the King’s Road, going past Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, the Bank of England, and St Paul’s Cathedral.
The number 11 bus provides a vital service for commuters and residents across Chelsea & Fulham as well as tourists from all over the world. The journey takes them right into the heart of central London and removing this key transport link will add unnecessary disruption, complication, wait times and delays.
The number 11 - the “sightseeing bus” - is also an iconic bus and route. It has been in operation for over 100 years, taking tourists to many of London’s great attractions. It is a fundamental part of London’s cultural heritage that deserves recognition and protection by UNESCO World Heritage.
Let’s keep the pressure on TfL and Mayor Khan and preserve this iconic route. Sign my bus petition here!
Have a lovely weekend.
Best wishes,
Greg Hands
The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP
