Dear Resident
I hope you are well.
This week I had the pleasure of meeting the new BCU Commander for London West Central, Chief Superintendent Louise Puddefoot and Superintendent Owen Renowden in Parliament. I was glad to hear from them that theft is receiving increased focus of the local Met and that addressing robbery and violent crime remain their top priorities, too.
Crime is a serious concern for me and for my constituents. This is why I work closely with the Borough Commander and her team. I will continue to raise residents’ concerns directly with the Met Police in regular meetings. Today, there is a record high number of police officers in the Metropolitan Police, thanks to funding from this Government.
I welcome the Government’s announcement earlier this week about the action they plan to take on banning machetes and so-called zombie knives. A new public consultation will be launched which will look into legislation and a number of other areas to make our streets safer. The Conservative Government is taking action at every level to cut crime.
If you have not already signed up, I would like to invite you to my upcoming Chelsea Crime Summit which is taking place next week on Thursday, 27 April 2023 from 19:00-20:30. This is an opportunity for residents to voice their concerns about crime in the local community directly with the Metropolitan Police, local representatives and myself.
The venue for this in-person event is located in Chelsea and will be announced to the registered attendees 24 hours before the event.
Sign up here!
I hope you have a good weekend.
Best wishes,
Greg Hands
