Dear resident,
This week I attended the memorial service of the late Earl Cadogan. He was a lifelong Chelsea resident and dedicated his life to improving our local area, through the Cadogan Estate. One moving tribute to him at the service recounted how “his vision for Chelsea was for it to be the best place to live in London”.
Who could say he didn’t succeed? I might be biased, but Chelsea and Fulham is the best place in the country to live. But our local area needs constant vigilance and can always be improved.
One area where RBKC has been working to improve has been the al fresco dining environment in Chelsea. This means more space given over to people, less to traffic. Therefore, I was delighted to join lead Councillor Cem Kemahli and local Redcliffe Ward Councillors Sidney Yankson, Tom Bennett and Marie-Therese Rossi in welcoming an expanded pavement in Hollywood Road, SW10, which is full of local dining options like Brinkley's and Il Trillo. The street has long been one way and has less need of a wide carriageway. Check out the video we did with Roberto from Il Trillo this week, welcoming the changes.
I am always on the lookout to improve our special part of London even further. Residents will remember that I resigned from the Government in 2018 to fight against the third runway proposal at Heathrow Airport.
I will always put Chelsea and Fulham residents first!
Have a good weekend!
Kind regards,
Greg Hands
