On 10 January 2022, the MP for Chelsea and Fulham and Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), Greg Hands MP, put forward the Nuclear Energy (Financing) Bill in the House of Commons.
The Minister for Energy, Clean Growth and Climate Change spoke about how the Bill will finance new nuclear power stations, making the UK less dependent on foreign-owned developers and bringing in the private sector and institutional funding.
