After making his own submission to Hammersmith & Fulham Council in response to Chelsea Football Club’s planning application to redevelop Stamford Bridge, Greg Hands encourages local residents and stakeholders to continue engaging with the Council and with the Club to make sure that their views will be taken into consideration.
Chelsea Football Club plans to redevelop the entire Stamford Bridge stadium site, replacing the current 41,000-seater stadium with a new 60,000-seater stadium on the same site. In response to a growing number of concerned local residents, Member of Parliament for Chelsea & Fulham, Greg Hands, held a meeting with several of them on Friday, 22 January. Greg listened to his constituents’ concerns, and has offered to represent them once again to the Council and to Chelsea FC.
Although the official consultation came to an end on 8 January, Greg encourages his constituents to contact Hammersmith & Fulham Council so that their views may be taken into consideration. As the Council states, they will try to consider representations received after the consultation period has ended, provided that they are received before a decision has been issued.
Speaking after the meeting, Greg Hands said: “I have been assured that both Councils will continue receiving representations from local residents in the coming weeks. I support Chelsea FC staying in the Borough, but clearly this stadium expansion will have a considerable impact both on those in the locality and those in the wider community, and residents need to make their voices heard.”
