Dear Resident,
I hope you are well.
Firstly, I would like to congratulate the local Councillors in Chelsea and Fulham who have been elected or re-elected in last week’s local elections as well as all the candidates, who put in months of hard work in the lead up to the election.
This week, the Queen’s Speech set out the goals of this Parliament which include growing and strengthening the economy, easing the cost of living for families, supporting the police to make the streets safer and funding the NHS to reduce the COVID-19 backlogs. To learn more about the 38 Bills the Government is planning on passing through Parliament, please click here.More locally, I would also like to bring your attention to the ‘up’ escalator from the eastbound platform at Sloane Square Tube Station which had been completely out of action since before Christmas last year. This was completely unacceptable, given that this escalator is used regularly by local residents in Chelsea and Fulham including commuters, disabled people, young families and the elderly like the Chelsea Pensioners. As a result, I wrote to TfL several times and created a petition calling on Sadiq Khan and TfL to repair the escalator urgently. I am very pleased to say that the escalator is now up and running only 48 hours after I started the petition! This is great news for our local community, particularly given the Chelsea Flower Show is less than 2 weeks away!
Kind regards,
Greg HandsThe Rt Hon Greg Hands MP
Member of Parliament for Chelsea & Fulham
