These covered his work as the Member of Parliament for Chelsea & Fulham as well as his Ministerial work as Minister for Trade Policy and Minister for London.
This week I have met Postal Services Minister Kevin Hollinrake to brief him on my campaign to save the Post Office in Fulham. The Minister knows how vital the Post Office is to local people and will take action and I will of course keep residents updated!
My campaign to preserve the 11, 211 and N11 bus routes also continues.
The main Fulham Post Office, currently located within the Co-op supermarket at 254 North End Road, is under threat of closure in September this year.
I need your help – only together can we save the North End Road Post Office.
In this first bulletin of 2023 I would like to wish all Chelsea & Fulham constituents a very Happy New Year!
It has been a busy start for me this week with Parliament sitting again. I also held various meetings at the Department for International Trade and across Chelsea & Fulham.
In this last bulletin of 2022, I would like to take the opportunity to look ahead to 2023 and I would like to wish all Chelsea & Fulham residents a very Merry Christmas and a healthy and successful 2023!
This week has been a busy, varied and momentous week. I was honoured to be present at two momentous occasions in Parliament this week: On Wednesday HM King Charles III unveiled the new plaque in Westminster Hall, marking the laying in state of our late Queen. A one-minute silence was observed in the House of Commons chamber on Thursday to mark 80 years since the UK first publicly recognised what we now know as the Holocaust.
This week I have started a petition against Labour’s proposed 20% Tax on independent school fees.
This is a clear and present danger from Labour for many families in Chelsea & Fulham and I urge all resident to show their opposition to this Labour proposal by signing my petition and sharing it with friends and family, too.
It has been a very busy week for me with travel to Wales and Poland on Ministerial business. It was great to attend the Board of Trade meeting in Cardiff and my flying visit to Warsaw had a packed schedule, too. You can read more on these visits below.
In the Autumn Statement the Chancellor announced tough but fair decisions to restore economic stability and tackle inflation. Inflation makes everyone poorer, that is why the Government’s number one priority is to grip inflation.
The Boundaries Commission for England released their revised proposal for the 2023 Review which will see the London region change from 73 to 75 parliamentary constituencies. Chelsea will remain united with Fulham, as it has been since 2010. In their report, the Boundary Commission noted that they had recognised the strength of opposition to their initial proposal and that they recommend that our counter-proposal should be adopted in full!
